Workout programs should give hard-working, goal-oriented athletes everything they need from a physical development standpoint to thrive moving forward. For lots of reasons, this has not always happened.
Programs focused too much on getting bigger, and putting up heavier weights.
Others avoided strength altogether in the hopes of making players more fit, or improving their footwork.
And even worse in some cases, training is simply meant to exhaust kids by any means necessary, blindly throwing challenges at clients without any thought as to what they are trying to accomplish.

All athletes, regardless of sport or gender, need to be strong and powerful for their size. Some sports need to gain muscle as well, but not all strength training develops bulk. I had my eye on a few places before trying Power Source. I was on the lookout for something designed mostly for a program for strength and speed but also not in a traditional way. My goal was to give my boys a competitive edge in the sports that they play. All aspects in the exercises they do help them in strength, speed, flexibility, speed, and injury prevention….things you don’t get at a traditional gym. We have nothing but the upmost respect for Jim and all his coaches. They have become like a second family to us and my boys love all of them. All of the coaches connect with everyone at every level. We were looking for a place with a staff that had experience and credentials to work with kids, and could push my son and daughter out of their comfort zones while still having fun. I also wanted flexibility, since our practice and game times change frequently.
Power Source turned out to be exactly what I was looking for. My kids have a relationship with Jim and his staff that is just fantastic. They put together individual plans for each kid and are updated all the time which my kids love! They never get bored with the same old routine. They wanted to build their strength and speed and they both now have the confidence that through their hard work they will get results.
As we all know kids want to hear it from someone other than their parents. When I pick my kids up after a workout they notoriously give me some fact about nutrition or some advice about bettering themselves that sticks with them. I love that!

Two years ago we were looking for a program to help our girls with their speed, strength and endurance while playing sports. They are currently ages 11 and 14 and play both field hockey and basketball (school, travel and AAU). It was also our goal to help prevent an injury. We had seen several other kids “go down” with ankle, knee and hip problems, and wanted to avoid this if possible.
Since working out at Power Source the girls’ bodies are much stronger and leaner, plus their speed and endurance have increased tremendously. Their passes and shots are quicker, more powerful, and very accurate. Our youngest daughter went from being a 2nd-3rd string player to being the starting point guard for her AAU team…which won the MA State Championship last season. And our oldest daughter was the only freshman to make the varsity field hockey team at her high school this past fall*. Plus, Jim and his dedicated staff make each class a lot of fun! The instructors have a great way of pushing & motivating the kids to work to the best of their ability in a kind & friendly manner. I wanted to work with coaches who knew how to coach kids, and had up to date equipment and facilities. I also was looking for a program that would create a personalized workout program. I like the great equipment Power Source has, and how all the drills I do are so helpful to the sports I play. I also really like the coaches. They are so nice, encouraging, and helpful. They really want me to make gains with my workouts. Life has changed a lot for me since starting at Power Source.
